Welcome to Meadowsweet Croft, a small, artisan cut flower field on the stunning Isle of Skye.
The Isle of Skye is a beautiful, but fragile eco system and it is important to me that Meadowsweet Croft not only provides a household income but does so in the most sustainable ways possible with as little impact on the environment.
I grow seasonal, sustainable cut flowers for gift bouquets, weddings and elopements or simple bunches for the kitchen table. My flowers are grown naturally in my cutting patch and on the croft; we wait for the seasons to turn and for nature to send up those beautiful blooms from the earth.
I also have a small holiday cottage built from all natural materials including wood, straw, clay and lime.
My flowers grow with the seasons, so it will be no surprise that most of the flowers are only available from late April to September. In winter, I use the flowers I have gathered and dried for seasonal wreaths and other indoor decorations.
I love the look, scent and movement of a just gathered bunch of freshly picked garden flowers that are not commonly found in supermarkets, including native wildflowers and foliage that flourish in the forgotten corners and the edges of our gardens. All these flowers, including the ones with wonky stems go to create wedding bouquets and posies that bring a touch of the wild garden into the home
Stay in the croft
We also have a small holiday let, The Strawbale Bothy, built by my son and myself from all natural materials such as wood, straw, clay and lime and we welcome guests all year round..
Please drop me a note if you can not get through to me on the phone (poor mobile reception on the flower field) and my voicemail is unreliable. Look forward to hearing from you.
